A Decent Job

Well, I heard on the radio a month ago about a company local that is hiring for call center work.  I tried out their web site and had some issues and never got back to looking into it.  Then Pam heard them on the radio a few days ago.  So I got around to calling them yesterday when the air went out in my car, leaving me with no AC in either of my vehicles!  I helped them troubleshoot their issue with their web site so I could get the online app working.  Then I filled it out and called back today.  I have an interview on Monday with them.  I am confidant that I will be getting a job with them since I have over eight years experience in call centers, working a variety of technologies.  I also answered every one of their questions correctly on the online technical evaluation.  It was not that advanced and there is a flaw in one of the questions.  I won’t say anything about that in the interview on Monday.  Their compensation package is actually very good.  Training is $9.00 and hour for eight weeks, then a pay raise to $10.  There is also the possibility of up to $2 more in .50 cent increments based on performance.  Vacation time is also based on those metrics and earning two hours of PTO a week is possible for 13 days a year.  Not bad to start out.

I gave it some serious thought and decided for now, I need the money more than I need to work Nutri Master full time.  I will continue working on it in my spare time.  I figure for now, I have at least one week to finish up the last of the details for the initial release.

I went to the VA today and found about my cholesterol levels.  They have gone down over the last three months but not enough.  I’ve been prescribed a statin along with the niacin regime and we will see how that goes in three months time.  My doctor was pleased with the 30 pounds I lost but he said it wasn’t enough and that I need to get more aggressive with it.  I told him that I tried waling in the heat here and could not handle it and that my plan was to get a tread mill.  He seemed to be okay with that but emphasized the need for it with strokes and heart attacks because of the plaque build up in the aorta and carotids arteries.  He mentioned one of the signs of lack of circulation to the brain is the inability of the head to sweat.  I don’t have that issue but I am still highly motivated to get the exercise I need.  So another reason to go back to work for someone, at least for now.

The lawn mower throttle cable broke so I need to get that fixed and that brings my place in Marksville to mind.  Other than the yard work, it still needs a lot of work to get it up to snuff and that takes money as well.  So again another reason to go back to work for someone.

I will finish Nutri Master.  That is my ultimate goal since I see an huge potential for it, but I need the income for now of a 9 to 5 job that pays decent and this job shows promise.
