In the early hours of the morning of the 28th of February (By All Counts – My 8th accident)

I’m running down the road in the right lane east bound I-20 minding my own business and out of nowhere, I see these lights coming up awful damn fast in my rearview, too damn fast actually. I was doing 70MPH, Blue Cruise activated in the Mustang, hands on the wheel though, don’t fully trust it; when wam bam, and not even a thank you ma’am; white knuckled now on the steering wheel trying to maintain control , screams madly echo the cabin, fish tail across the left from the right lane into a single spin before ending up in the median. Guy had to be doing at least 100 plus when he hit me if not more. I thank by the grace of God another accident that I have walked away from and this time with my dogs and my cat. You see that grate just above the V, that’s my dogs’ travel kennel, I had three additional souls on board that survived that night and they were a hell of a lot closer than I was to that back end of my car, two in that kennel and my cat’s kennel next to it.

Now, immediately after the accident Ford Sync came online and called 911, that did not work very well though, when Sync transferred the call to me, the call was dead air. I called out to 911 several times but there was no one there, so I hung up the call and the phone control was transferred to me. I will always have a Ford in my garage and Ford Pass on my phone. My wife Pam was notified immediately that there was a collision. She immediately called 911 and they identified my call location and had the police on scene within minutes. The 911 operator said they tracked the call but there was dead air and was not sure if I could hear them or not and they could not hear me. Sync did make the call, and it did complete but not sure if the problem was my phone since right after the call, I was not able to call Pam immediately. Thank you, Ford, for letting my wife know.

Now my wife tells me I’m calling out in my sleep and the days following so far, I’m miserable. I woke up sicker than a dog the first night immediately after the accident, I had eaten nothing out of the ordinary but was gut miserable from both ends, I suspect my body traumatized after the accident as it was the first real meal I had to eat since.  The dogs were skittish and refusing initially to take treats and both eventually had to be sedated with Benadryl that night as well.  I ache more than usual but not that much, at least not yet, only time will tell.  The Mustang was outfitted with the Performance racing seat that kept me in place and the air bags did not deploy, a good indicator that there was no frontal or side impact damage, images confirm no damage to the front or side of the car

Accident

Images of the Mustang after the accident when I was rear ended, I was doing 70 and I suspect the other driver was doing 100 plus from the total damage done.

I was lucky once again but how am I long will it take before I’m able to be comfortable driving again, I tried getting behind the wheel to get breakfast this morning and couldn’t shake the feeling I was going to get smacked so I just didn’t get out.  Makes me wonder how I’m supposed to get back and forth to my appointments now without freaking out.  We’ll see.  We’ll see if my PTSD from my previous accidents is going to come back again.
