Messier 3, NGC 5272 – “My God, it’s full of stars” – (Update)

Hello all,

I had a private and frank pm with a member on another board and he pointed out some easy issues to resolve. I reprocessed this from the ground up in Adobe PS and I do believe a much more pleasing image to look at is presented. The core is much more detailed and a lot more stars were brought out. The color is also more vibrant and natural, more like the yellow of our Sun. I don’t think I can get much more out of it without blowing out some of the bigger stars. This is officially the first light for my SV405CC. Focal length is 1565mm bringing the cluster up nice and close. Another first for me, my first successful long exposure astro camera with long focal length OTA.

Original session was 45 180 subs, however 15 were dropped due to poor star quality, 20 dark, 20 flat, 20 dark flat, 20 bias. Total integration time is 2.25 hours.
The background is a little darker than what I am used to seeing but this was taken with a camera cooled to 25F.

Two version , colorful stars and white stars

Clear Skies,
Chris
